Chernobyl was one of the
"youngest" towns of Ukraine. The average age of the town's residents did not
exceed 30 years. Chernobyl now is hundreds of abandoned houses and piles of radioactive
waste scattered around the town.
Herds of wild dogs, cats, cows, and
horses scroll through the towns and villages in the dead zone lurking for food.
During the evacuation, people took
only the basic necessities - money and documents. Furniture and home appliances were left
behind in the empty apartment buildings.
Once, before the catastrophe, there
was a kindergarten in this building.
